There’s still time to donate to the 2020 annual Provost’s Christmas Appeal.

It’s slightly different this year, with donations being collected online via a Just Giving page.

The money raised will help children and young people across the Falkirk area have an enjoyable Christmas, with donations used to buy gifts and food for many families facing economic hardship this year.

To understand how your donation will help, please read Kevin and Dylan’s story as told by their parents (not actual names).

“We have had extra bills this year due to unplanned house repairs and that has left us really struggling to buy food and heat our house.  Thankfully, the generosity of other people has meant we have had enough food and warmth. We are now worried about Christmas.

Kevin is two years old and Dylan is almost one year old, so we are lucky that they don’t really look for lots of toys on Christmas morning.  They will be happy with any present they get from Santa.

This year will be a different Christmas for everybody. Like a lot of people, my boys probably won’t be able to see their grannies at Christmas as we all need to keep safe. We will make the most of watching their wee faces opening their presents and just spending a relaxed day with them.

Knowing we may get help with buying toys, food and heat, will certainly make us feel less worried.

Can you say ‘thank you’ to the kind people who do help families?”

Any size of donation is welcomed and as you can see, it is really appreciated by those who need the help most.

The Just Giving page is open until 20 December.
